Did You Know….

If you miss or lose your weekly Religious School newsletter, “Connections”, you can look at ALL of the issues on our BASRS.org website!   Choose “Parent Portal” (upper left) and you’ll see a page on the top listed as “Newsletters”.  This is a GREAT way to actually see what we’ve been doing in school each week; there are lots of pictures, like this one:

We did it!

Come rain…or wind…or nor’easter….?

Thanks to several brave parents, students, teachers, and madrichim, our JJC Goldman Sukkah got taken care of yesterday!  A special todah rabbah to Scoutmaster Allan A, Lane T, Ken S, Alec T, Elior L, and Ian G, who got soaked as the panels were taken down and brought inside for our students to safely decorate.  We can’t wait to enjoy the sukkah later this week!

SUNdays are FUNdays at BASRS!

Experiential learning at Bernard & Alice Selevan Religious School                         Opportunities for family education & fun in October

Sunday, October 1:   Sukkah Decorating Party   10:30-12:00  Saturday is Yom Kippur, and who wouldn’t like to sleep in a bit on Sunday?    So, we’ll have a late start (10:30) and we will be decorating the Goldman Sukkah together for the Jacksonville Jewish Center!  We will have an art project, stories, noshes, and fun!  EVERYONE is invited to join us!  Bring siblings and stay with your child, or drop-off your student at 10:30 and pick-up at 12:00 (school lobby, as usual).

Sunday, October 8:  Pizza in the Hut  11:15-12:00  Now that we’ve done all the work to decorate it, we must complete the mitzvah of eating in the Sukkah!  We’ll have school, beginning at 9:00 as usual, but at 11:15 we will bring all of our students to the Goldman Sukkah to eat pizza and  drink everyone’s favorite Lulav Shakes.  Live music provided by Kol Train (our amazing synagogue band, led by Hazzan Holzer).  BASRS families are invited to join us at 11:15.  The event is free, but we must have RSVPs so that we have enough for all!

Sunday, October 15:     Kindergarten through 3rd grade ~ ZOO Scavenger Hunt  The weekly parshah is NOAH! What’s the best place to learn the Hebrew names of each animal…which ones are kosher…and where they are mentioned in the Torah?  We’ll take a bus to the Jacksonville Zoo with our teachers and clergy to learn these things, and more!   Parents invited to join us.  Please fill out the permission slips that will be sent this week, and help us keep our expenses down by using your zoo memberships.
